Hey all!

Just a reminder that I'm still alive, ironically I'm on holidays and thus don't have as much time to hang out here as I once did. :)

Firstly, we went to the V Festival at Claremont Showgrounds on Sunday, which was pretty amazing. Not quite as amazing as the UK one we went to in 2006, where we saw Radiohead perform, but on the other hand, this one had Elbow, so it just about evens out. Apart from a couple of alcohol/drug-related unpleasantnesses, it was a great festival, mostly chilled and fun. Highlights - Elbow, of course, who were amazing as always, plus Madness were terrific fun, and the Kaiser Chiefs were as raucus as you could hope. Lowlight - Human League. Please retire. Sigh. Photos to follow on my Facebook. :)

EDIT - photos are now up HERE.

Secondly, [ profile] angriest has just sent out the second issue of Hope, his fundraising e-magazine. It's got the story I wrote online some weeks back, "The Velocitous and the Vexed", which isn't my greatest story, but hopefully it's fun. Go and donate to receive a copy of it, or all of them. There may or may not be another story of mine in a later issue, I'm not sure. Only one way to find out! Plus, you know, great stories and articles from [ profile] ladnews, [ profile] azhure, [ profile] punkrocker1991, [ profile] battersblog, and many many more I'm sure!

Well, back to work painting the pergola and backyard, such a fun way to spend one's holidays... grumble...

Hope is a new multi-part fanzine raising money for bushfire relief in the Australian state of Victoria. Issue #1 is now available in a PDF edition in return for donations.

I'll have a story (or two?) in an upcoming issue (or two?). But look at the lineup for the inaugural one... that's bloody impressive!

Go. Now. Buy.

Sorry, that took way longer than ten minutes, mainly due to work, but I'm also out of practice at this. I don't think it's my best work, but I guess it's okay.

For more, you'll need to buy the fanzine. :)

You're probably all aware of the bushfires ravaging the eastern states. You might be aware that Perth fandom is organising a picnic to raise funds. You might also be aware that [ profile] angriest is also organising a fanzine to sell at the picnic and in PDF format online in order to raise more funds.

I want to send them a story, but I don't have anything hugely appropriate at the moment. So I thought I'd write something for it. Now.

So, first Tuesday's Ten Minute Tale for 2009, but it's a little different. First three people to suggest words to use will, as always, have their words in the story. But I won't be posting the story once it's finished, just a small teaser of it. The whole story will only be available in "Hope", the fanzine Grant's putting together. if you want to read it, you'll have to buy it.

And, if you don't want to read it, buy it anyway. :)
