Tuesday's Ten Minute Tale - the setup!

Now that I've finally finished (I think!) my backwards-and-forwards story, complete with title change and a whole new ending... the first three people to post with a word, phrase, topic, theme, name, or whatever, dictate the direction of the story. I'll endeavour to incorporate all three suggestions, and write it within ten minutes of receiving the third post, work allowing. Then I'll post the result.
