And, you know, I'm of the long-held opinion that the count of how many words you've written is a useless number-- it's the words you sell that count.

S <= W
Where S is the words sold [1], and W is the words written. S must always be less than or equal to W. So the larger W is, the greater potential value S has. QED.
[1] Except for reprints, of course. I mean first time original sales. Yeah. Uh...
