Congrats to battersblog for bringing home another Australian Shadows award. But how about giving someone else a chance, hey? You're hogging them. :)

I hope I can manage to bring one of these home one day. Or, you know, any award which considers works outside my own state. Puts it all in perspective, don't it? Small fish in a tiny pond, that's me!

Yeah, but after you've done that you'll just want an award that considers your work outside your own country. And then once you've done that...

Well, we'll see if I can manage a national award within the 20 years of being professionally published mark, and I'll play it by ear from there. Multidimensional awards must be a possibility!

Absolutely. I've found that winning any award a second time around just feels as though you're not making progress.

Of course, not even getting nominated for later and better work makes it feel as though you're going backwards, which is worse (and in my case, sadly, probably true).

Yeah, I bet that's exactly how Jack Nicholson must have felt when he won that second Oscar. Geez, by the time he won his third he must have been absolutely mortified :)


Personally, I'll take any award they want to give me, any time they want to give it to me.

Ok, I should probably have added something to say that this only applies if there's an even more prestigious award that I didn't get. Or, maybe, one where the prize might actually bring in a little extra money: that might feel like progress.

That said, I will accept an award if I feel the story deserves it.
