Well, the Tin Duck nominations for 2006 have now been announced. I wasn't expecting much this year, considering I spent it overseas and didn't really put out much content during 2006, so I was very pleasantly surprised to find I've been mentioned four times, twice for my fiction and twice more for more generic group activities. Incidentally, that last one really ought to be "Grant Watson et al", considering he invented the damn strip. If it wins, angriest, you're getting up on stage, as is cheshirenoir, and _fustian if he's there. And we're dedicating it to the only person really doing the strip lately, dalekboy, who's an honorary West Australian. :)

Thanks to everyone and anyone who nominated me, I'm chuffed to be mentioned! I guess that's another panel I'll have to turn up to at Swancon now... and, of course, congrats to all those on my f-list who've also been nominated, especially azhure, sharing the honours with me on the Horror Day nomination. She did most of the hard work on it, anyway!

EDIT - after writing this, I felt remiss not mentioning the people in my f-list who are also nominated. So big congrats to... *takes a deep breath* battersblog, stephen_dedman, battblush, <sjiraiyac, punkrocker1991, valeskah1, nullspace_feed, girliejones, angriest and mynxii, plus anyone else I may have inadvertently forgotten. Nice one, guys! It's win-win! :)

Congrats on the nominations! Does this mean that Swancon made a special ruling on your eligibility?

I choose not to question my nomination. ;)

I mean, really... I've lived in WA for 36 out of the last 37 years. I wrote Carnies and "Dwar7es" in WA. My postal address, as far as everyone was concerned, remained in WA throughout 2006. The address on my book contract was in WA. Plus I didn't work in the UK, so not a single cent or penny was earned by me there. In fact, it's entirely arguable that I was simply on holiday in the UK when the book and story were published. I don't think that should discount me, surely. :)
