Writers Rooms...
Oct. 2nd, 2007 09:07 amI know a lot of folks have been at Conflux, and thus might have missed my initial post, so here's a repeat! I have only a handful of rooms thus far, so hopefully this'll get more of a response this time around... damn these Eastern States conventions and their glitterati guests, luring us away from LJ...

I've been thinking about this ever since people started posting this link of a photographic gallery of writers' writing rooms. These are all hoity-toity litchracha writers, though, who sip their Bollanger champagne from glasses etched from the crystalised skulls of prehistoric hummingbirds... or, at least, that's how I imagine their lifestyles. Maybe it's just me. But it's made me wonder - what do REAL writers' writing rooms look like? Like, yours? Or yours? Or even yours?
I have a lot of fellow writers as friends on this LiveJournal. We're not rich, or famous. Heck, most of us don't make a living from writing, and probably never will. But we're not bitter. Angry, twisted, filled with unspeakable rage, yes, but not bitter, no. But we all work at it anyway, and we all work somewhere.
I'd like you all to send me a photo of that somewhere, along with a short paragraph explaining it, kind of like in the link above. Yes, I'm THAT unoriginal. But I think this would make a nice snapshot, to go alongside the one that the ASif team recently did. We've had insights into your minds, now I'd like insights into your private spaces.
Er, I mean where you write. Not... uh... *blush*
Anyway, moving swiftly onwards, if anyone wants to participate, email me the photo and paragraph at the following email address:
myroom@martinlivings.com
What, me worried about spam? Never fear, I'll shut down the address once I'm finished with it. And please, feel free to spread the word to other writers. In fact, not just writers, but creative people in general; artists, editors, crocheters and knitters, comedians, woodworkers... whatever it is you do, in a creative sense, I'd love to see where you do it. I'll put some of them up on my LJ every day starting from October 1st (Monday) for the entire month, or until I run out.
Yes, this could be a huge fizzog, but on the plus side, that'd be less work for me! :)
Pass it on!
