I've been a little lax in posting lately, mainly because my new job has been so insane and intense. However, I think I'm starting to get the hang of it now, so I'll take this opportunity to take a deep breath, relax, and post about a few things.

Iron Man

I finally saw Iron man on DVD last wekend. It was... alright. It didn't excite my imagination the way I expected it to. I think [livejournal.com profile] benpeek was right, in that it was simply remarkably unambitious. Maybe the next one will be better. But I won't hold my breath. Glad I only spent 95c to watch it (thanks, Video Ezy voucher!).

Voices

I got my contributor's copy of Voices in the mail, thanks [livejournal.com profile] amandapillar and [livejournal.com profile] markdeniz! And it's purdy! I can't wait to read it... if I ever have time again!

Dexter

We're late into this, mainly because Izz took a lot of convincing to watch it, but once she did, she was hooked. We polished off season 1 in a week, and just watched the first episode of season 2. It's good stuff.

Life

Busy. Damn busy.

Work

Busy. Damn busy.

Writing

Still not doing any, and enjoying the break. Though I can't stop my brain noodling with ideas for a something for Grant's Pass, but it's unlikely to eventuate into an actual story, just a vague idea. I'm not going to force it. 'Cos I'm not a writer, remember?

And that's all for now. See you all next week. :)

I've been thinking a lot lately about how I spend (or possibly waste) my time, especially online. A goodly portion of every day get eaten up by a variety of things online, particularly:

- LJ f-list
- LOLCats (and related amusements)
- Cracked.com
- web comics (about a dozen of them!)
- Dark Horizons entertainment news
- Facebook (primarily playing Countdown)

And probably many more. How many of these things are actually important? Any of them? And are they more important than getting some writing done?

I don't think so. And, with my new job absorbing most of my time, I think it's time to downsize.

I don't want to drop off LJ altogether. But I think I read too much on it. So it's time to do that most dreaded of all things, and cut back my f-list. I have to be brutal. I need to regain some time for writing. At any cost. Minimise the distractions. When I sit at my computer, my first reaction should be to open the Work In Progress, not spend an hour trawling through f-list posts. Bad writer, no biscuit!

Anyway, that decision is easy. The next - which to keep and which to cut - is hard. Like choosing which fingers to chop off.

... I've dropped out of the KSP Minicon this weekend, for a variety of reasons.
